Rough Day for Wyatt

Nothing serious... just suffering from a case of...big sis.

He seems to have a good attitude about it!

Snowed in!

We didn't really plan on being snowed in today but that we were.  What was supposed to be an inch of snow ended up being a lot more.  Not mad about it!  It was sure fun to look at through the window.  I got to enjoy my little ones inside where we were cozy and warm.
I could have put him down to sleep... but I didn't want to.
Her new favorite snack.  Tastes best in a bowl that's almost as big as she is.
Watching the snow fall.  Isn't she beautiful?!
Telling Wyatt all about that white stuff falling from the sky.
It was a little too windy to go out... that and I just didn't want to.  So, we brought some snow inside.  Lainey had a snow tea party with Simon.
He sleeps a lot.
We just started bathing these two cuties together.  They both love it.  So do I.  Nothing smells better than a baby after a bath!

Truth be told, it was a good day but there was a fair share of whining and fussing being cooped up all day.  My kind husband came home with a Starbucks in hand for me, knowing it had been a long day.  He loves me.

Our plans for tomorrow morning were already cancelled but we must get out and brave the elements!  Anyone want visitors? :)

Family Day {and other stuff}

Today we spent a fun morning together as a family.  Between weather, family visits, bathroom renovation re-do's, trips and having a new (although he doesn't seem quite so new anymore) baby, we haven't had a chance to do all that much lately.  We made muffins this morning, Skyped with my family in North Carolina to catch a glimpse of sweet baby Will and then headed to Merle Hay Mall (the mall with it all).  This mall really does have it all, even the Red Rock Wildlife Education Center.  They have wolves, bears, a coyote, red foxes and more.  IN THE MALL.  I know, right?  They had a short program and they talked about snakes and bats.  Kind of lame, but still a fun time.

After that we went to Felix and Oscar's for lunch.  Thank you Groupon.
Lainey is bringing back the mean mug.  She thought she was pretty big stuff with her own cup (of water).  I should mention that Wyatt, not surprisingly, slept through the entirety of our family outing.  Apparently, he thinks we're lame.  After lunch we came home for naps and then later we bundled up and went outside.
What a fun family day!

Earlier this week, they forecasted another giant snow storm.  Flop. We only got 5 or 6 inches but it was the most wonderful 5 or 6 inches of light, fluffy snow we've gotten all winter!  Friday morning it was sunny out and about 20 degrees so during Wyatt's first nap I bundled Lainey and myself up and we headed outside!

So, she wasn't loving it so much at first.  Maybe she was mad that I stuffed her into some 12mo snow pants that are just a tad too small.  I promised her I will get her some that fit next year.

We were given this awesome play house from one of Jed's co-workers and this was the first time she got to see it and go inside.  I think she would have been a thousand times more elated had she not had to wade through the snow but she did like it in the end.

Simon, however has been enjoying the play house in the back yard for a few days.  Simon LOVES the snow too.

I think she did have a good time playing outside for the whole 20 minutes we were out there.  All I heard the rest of the day was "Side?" (outside) "Show?" (snow) "Sled?"  There's 3 more words for the list!
Love this picture.  Unbundling, runny nose and all!

I think 3 "snow storms" are enough for one winter and now we are really looking forward to spring.  Hopefully it's just around the corner!

Smiles

I've got two very smiley kiddos these days.

Wyatt will smile at anyone, anytime, anywhere.  In fact, I often catch him smiling at the birds on his swing, his big sis (of course), and sometimes he's even smiling for no reason at all.  He's just a happy guy.

Lainey is a little more timid to show her pearly whites to other people sometimes, but at home, she is a serious ham.  She's so full of joy.

I got a new phone this week (waaaay overdue) and it has a pretty good camera so now I can catch those precious smiles more easily! :)  I think Jed and our families appreciate the pictures.

Snuggles are a great reason to smile!

Playing music is a great reason to smile!
Having your best friend over to play is a great reason to smile too!
Our GREATEST reason to smile this week came in the form of a sweet newborn baby boy, our first nephew, born to my sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Bud (and big sis Claire)!  William David Thomas was born on his due date this past Sunday.
He is PRECIOUS!  I can't wait to meet him!  I don't know when that will be (UGH! I KNOW!) but I can't wait.  And Lainey can't wait to meet "baby Whew" which is what she calls him :)

Wyatt's 1st Road Trip!

We took a trip up to Minnesota this past weekend to visit my family!  We hadn't been up to visit since Labor Day, which was quite awhile.  Part of the reason we visited was to eat Leann Chin (my favorite!).  Just kidding, kind of.  Really, we wanted to introduce our new little man to my Grandma Carey which we were able to do on Sunday.  We had a great weekend and as always my parents were great hosts.  Here are a few pics from the weekend...
She was a champ in the car!  Just needed some good books and snacks!
Like usual, Wyatt stayed true to his sleepy self and enjoyed lots of naps.
Lainey on the other hand slept great at night but didn't think napping was cool.  We took her on a little drive one afternoon and that did the trick.

Mom and Dad enjoyed some peace and quiet and got coffee and drove around while Lainey snoozed.

Just being silly and reading some books.
Great Grandma Carey checking out the lil guy.  I believe her actual words were, "What a CHUNK!  I can't believe the size of this child!" :)  Yes, he's a little on the healthy side.

The perfect chair for this little momma and her baby.  You can tell she's "shh"-ing her to sleep :)

We found my very first dance costume and Lainey looooooved trying it on and dancing in it.  She insisted on wearing it several times throughout the weekend.  Made my heart melt a little.

One of my favorite "meals from home" - boneless bbq ribs, cheesy potatoes... mmmm!

Lainey did great in the car both on the way up and back, as did Wyatt.  We made both trips without even stopping!

We had a great trip and can't wait to go back sometime in the spring or summer and enjoy Minnesota some more!

Lainey [half birthday! 18 months!]

When you're little, half birthdays are a big deal!  Lots has happened in the past 6 months since Lainey turned one.  And if you ask her how old she is, she'll tell you she's "2" (it's the only number she knows) but show you with her finger she's "1" so I guess if you meet in the middle, she's right!  18 months! :)

These are really random phone pictures but they give an accurate picture of real life!
This 18 month old loves to...
check the mail!  She especially loves when she gets special notes and stickers from her Grandma Johnson!

wear grown-up's shoes and slippers.  She's got quite good at walking in them as well!

have stair climbing races with her friend P!

do crafts, finger paint and color!

build ANYTHING!  She'll stack just about anything on top of something else and exclaim, "TALL!"

take care of her babies.  She is quite the little momma.  In this pic she's even got the twins thing down!

She loves to talk.  I made a list of words she can say and I keep adding to it daily.  She's at 33 so far.  She is even starting to put together very simple phrases and will sometimes say "please" without having to be asked to.  She loves to climb and is working REALLY hard at mastering climbing on to the couch.  A few times she's gotten up there with the help of using her brother's bumbo chair as a step stool and has proceeded to fall off, of course. :)  Hasn't learned that lesson yet!  She loves to dance and loves to be sung to.  She'll sign "more" and say "song" and she has a handful of favorites - some we took home from story time, some other random ones but she's getting good at the actions and even trying to sing along.  Her favorite book right now is "Barnyard Dance" and she has great moves to go along with the words to that too.

Time goes so, so incredibly fast.  I can't even believe she's gone from this...

TO THIS!

Thankful for our sweet, happy, healthy girl who learns something new every day!  It's such a blessing to spend my days with her and witness each moment.
Happy half birthday Lainey!

Wyatt is {3 months}!

Wyatt turns 3 months old today.  I don't know how that's possible because I'm pretty sure I just brought him home from the hospital yesterday.  That's how it seems.  I can't believe it's February, where did January go!?!

Our sweet and healthy boy was all smiles for the camera this morning!
Growing like a weed!  I had to give the rest of our size 1 diapers to a friend with a newborn because he's ready for size 2's!  I'm still squeezing putting him in some 3 month clothes but mostly 6 month sleepers and onesies.  I think he just went through a little growth spurt.
He's eating every 3-4 hours, then playing and then taking 1-2 hour naps in between feedings.  Pretty much like clock work.  It's wild.  (Lainey was SO not like that!)  He naps great in his bed or in the swing.  Or on the couch.  Or in the car seat (PRAISE GOD!).  Or in Lainey's bed.  Wherever he pleases!  He has slept through the night now several times and if he doesn't, he's only up once to eat and falls right back asleep.  I realize it might sound like I'm bragging but I'm so proud of him and it's SO nice.  Especially since he's in our room for right now.  AND I completely realize it might change tomorrow.  I am enjoying it while it lasts.  I even went to bed early last night and got over 8 hours of sleep!  Amazing!
Doesn't he have the sweetest face?  How am I SO blessed?
We love our 3 month old son!
