A Johnson Family Favorite
It's always a special treat when we get to go out to eat as a family. Truth be told, we haven't tried it super often in the past 8 months...usually a cozy night of quality time at home sounds better but last week I had Lainey bat her sweet eyelashes and ask her Daddy if he would take his girls on a date for some Mexican. How could he say no to her? :) And how could he say no to MONTERREY?!?
We love Monterrey. It is delicious, relatively cheap and QUICK! Not to mention the unlimited chips and salsa and great fountain pop. Perfect for a dinner out with our sweet pea. Lainey was just as excited as I was! She sat in the high chair like a pro and loved when our waiter would come by and pinch her cheeks. There were lots of people for her to oogle at as well, she's definitely a people watcher.

Right or left?
Is Lainey going to be a righty or lefty?
I don't really know when these kind of things are determined in a child but Lainey definitely favors eating with her left hand. She has gotten really good at picking up and eating puffs on her own. Such a big girl!

Friday Favorites!
Favorite New Recipe:
Last week I made a new SWEET recipe to share with our friends the Richey's on Thursday night. I actually combined 2 recipes and created something kind of new (to me) - cake batter cookie sandwiches! If you've never made cake batter cookies, you need to try! They are SO easy and SO yummy (and SO not healthy...). I got the cookie recipe from here and the frosting recipe for the middle of the sandwich from here. AND I took pictures this time! (I'm not a food blogger, don't judge my pictures! :)
Lainey was the sweetest little helper.
Finished products!
YUM!
Favorite Momma Moment:
This will, guaranteed, be the CUTEST 14 seconds of your day...
Favorite Verse:
After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. [acts 1:3-9]
I just CANNOT wrap my mind around what this must have been like for the apostles. Jesus died on the cross. He rose from the dead and appeared to them over a period of 40 DAYS! Then he promises them the Holy Spirit and gives them their charge: BE MY WITNESSES. And then he was gone. Mind blown.

Nom nom
Lainey + sloppy mush (aka rice cereal mixed with breastmilk) = a great match! She LOVED sitting in her high chair, wearing a bib and eating the sloppy mush from a spoon like a big girl! I seriously couldn't shovel it in fast enough!
"Okay people! Let's get this show on the road!"
"Ooooh. YUM!"
"Let me help!"
"Delicious!"
"Really you guys, this stuff is so good!"

Snow Day #2!
Snow Day #2 was AWESOME! I was truly thankful that it was called the night before so that I could sleep peacefully knowing I didn't have to wake up and worry about getting to school safely! Jed also got to go into work late which was a blessing! He got right out to shoveling when he woke up... What a guy!
I also had my second baby doctor appointment today! It went well and I enjoyed meeting one of the doctors. He was very personable and easy to talk to! I got to hear little beanie baby's heartbeat again and it was so sweet. Now that I'm feeling less nauseous ALL THE TIME I sometimes forget the little 1.5 ounce lemon sized person is in there! I wish I had one of those doppler things laying around the house so I could listen to the heartbeat whenever I wanted!
