Easter Sunday

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday today.  Lainey's vocabulary grew this weekend as we taught her a few new words ... Easter, died (as in, Jesus died), and alive (as in, He is alive!).  She repeated the sequence a few times, which was really sweet.  I'm glad she seemed to have caught on (in her own toddler understanding) to the real reason we celebrate Easter, because she also was pretty excited about things like eggs and baskets this week/weekend too!  Holidays are always a good excuse to dress up a little and take a few pictures so we did some of that today as well.
Sweet girl before church!

Me and my big sweet boy!

While Lainey was napping, I went outside and hid a few Easter eggs in the yard.  The great thing about little kids is that they have no idea what to expect when it comes to things like this.  Lainey could have cared less that I only put 1 or 2 of the cheapest brand of jelly beans in her Easter eggs.  Or that I put packages of fruit snacks that she got in a package from her grandparents that she had already seen in the bigger eggs.  It was still just as fun! So after Lainey woke up and when Wyatt went down for his nap, we went outside.

Checking out the loot!

Then Wyatt woke up so I could catch a few pictures of both of my cute kids!

So sweet to share!

He is SUCH a little stud!

A poor, poor attempt at a family photo.  (Lainey didn't get the memo.)

I hope you all were able to enjoy your Easter holiday as well celebrating the death and triumphant resurrection of Jesus!

Library time

We love to read at our house. Lainey is pulling books off her shelf constantly to look at and for me to read. As much as I love reading to her and hope both of my kids become lifelong readers, there are a few books that make me cringe when she pulls them out. I'm just tired of reading them. We go to the library almost weekly for story time, but we hadn't yet checked out any books ... partly because getting in and out of the library is like a circus act and partly because I was nervous about how she'd treat the books.
SO... Thursday morning as she was doing her typical morning reading we talked about how we were going to the library for story time and then we would get to pick out some NEW books to bring home to borrow for a few days.  She seemed mildly excited.
Parachute is her most, most, most favorite part of Book Babies.  She gets so excited!

We walked around and I let Lainey pick out 4 books.  Okay, I picked out 2 and she picked out 2, but she was still pretty excited about all of them.  Mostly, she was excited about putting them in her little tote and carrying them to the car.

Enjoying her library books at home!  Looking forward to many, many more trips to the library and more books to enjoy TOGETHER!

I love when this happens....

Sweet Lainey fell asleep (waaaay too early) during lunch but I managed to get her into her bed where she napped for almost 3 hours. Sleeping babies are the most precious thing.

All is well!

[I have started and stopped this post probably 4 times now!  Such is life with little ones I guess!]

We are finally ALL back to our happy, healthy selves in our house and I am soooo very thankful.  It was a long two weeks caring for sick kids, not feeling well myself and barely leaving the house.  I know it could have been much worse so I'm thankful that both of the kids recovered well and relatively quickly.

Lainey has been a particularly hilarious toddler lately.  She is quite the little momma and takes care of all of her babies, including the real one (who isn't all that much smaller than her...), she loves to play music and dance and spin, she is really enjoying coloring and is mastering her colors and is starting to learn some letters and shapes too.  It's crazy to watch her little mind in motion.  I can almost see the wheels turning inside her head sometimes as she is figuring things out.  She has kept me on her toes with her growing vocabulary and will point out and say things I didn't even know she knew.  It's fun that she is using words on her own, rather than just repeating what we ask her to (she'll do that too of course).  Probably my most favorite thing she is doing right now is saying "Love you!" It's just too precious.  She will also come up behind me if I'm sitting on the floor and pat my back which is so so sweet.  Sometimes she'll come up and pretend to 'get me' and say, "I got you," which sounds more like, "I gotch-you" -- love her.

Wyatt continues to be an awesome, go with the flow little dude.  He is such a stud.  He really pulled through being sick like a champ and had smiles for us throughout it all.  He is sweet as can be.  Still loving his play gym, rolling around on the floor and watching his big sis.  We hit a little hump in terms of sleeping at night and I learned 4 month sleep regression is a real thing (according to the Internets), but I think we have conquered it.  He loooves to be held to stand up and has some seriously strong tree trunk chubby legs.  I cannot wait for summer to put his rolly self into shorts.

These photos are in a super random order but who cares...

Reading to Wyatt.  Such a good big sis!

Wyatt got to meet his second cousin Harper last weekend.  They are 2 months apart.  I think you can see the Wilson side coming out in both of their awesome round cheeks!

Lunch at Chik-fil-a with Grandma!

Building a farm with Papa at Great Grandma Charlotte's house last weekend

Lainey and Wyatt got these horses from their Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for Christmas.  My 2 cute little cowboys!

Lainey has inherited more clothes and shoes from her cousin Claire.  You can't really see from the picture but the shirt has Minnie Mouse on it and Lainey is just in love with it.  So cute.

We enjoyed a spring teaser last week and got out with the stroller twice.  Then more snow came.  Boo. I think the forecast has some more real spring to look forward to.  I think we will spend A LOT of time outside this spring and summer!

The kiddos had well checks last week and I had to take a picture during a moment without tears.  Note the sucker in Lainey's hand.  Between the 3 times Wyatt was in within 2 weeks and 2 times for Lainey, their measurements were kind of all over the place, especially for height, but both of them are somewhere within the 75th-90th percentile for both height and weight.  Big healthy kids!

Wyatt sure loved the stroller rides too!

This is just one small example of what a joy Lainey is to be around.  Quite the ensemble.  She is so fun and silly.  Sometimes I think she puts things on or dresses up just to get some laughs out of her Momma.

Here's my sweet boy just relaxing.  I just adore him!  Just when I think he can't get any cuter... he does.

I know we aren't the only ones looking forward to spring and summer.  March has gone soooo fast.  Hard to believe it's almost APRIL!

{4 months} wyatt

Our favorite little man is 4 months old!
And so excited about it!

Wyatt turned 4 months last week on the 6th, but we've been a little busy since then dealing with SICKNESS (like SO many others we know!) (ugh!) so I haven't gotten this post written...  I thought the kiddos were going to make it through the winter without anything more than a mild cold.  We were so close, but such is life.

Wyatt and I spent the afternoon of his 4 month birthday at the doctor's office due to his terrible cough and congestion, then going to the hospital for x-rays of his little chest, then back to the doctor's office.  We returned home with an oral steroid and breathing treatments.  Probably not the (4 month) "birthday" present he (or I) was hoping for.  6 days later now and he is on the mend... not quite 100% healthy, but we're getting there.

Here's Mr. Wyatt in the doctor's office.  He sure charmed the pants off the nurses - they thought he was the CUTEST squishy little guy.
He's been a super duper trooper with his breathing treatments.  Look at that smile!

Little buddy also rolled over last week!  This is so fun for us because Lainey was never a roller.  And by never, I mean she didn't roll either way until she was about 15 months.  I'm not exaggerating.  Anyway, above you see Mr. Wyatt on his side, then mid roll, then finally he got it!  Then he decided he was tired and needed a nap.  That's just Wyatt - our happy (sleepy) guy!  He's also starting to grab things and play in his exer-saucer.  So many fun things.

I had well check appointments scheduled for both of the kids today, but they turned into not-so-well check ups.  Wyatt is still wheezy and since he's the sweetest baby boy ever, he sweetly gave his sister his illness as well.  Today, if I could, I would have given Lainey an award for her performance as most dramatic toddler EVER.  Does anyone have any advice for toddlers and doctor appointments?  Yikes.  She does this at the chiropractor too, but we go there more often so she's not as scared.  We talked and talked and talked about going to the doctor all weekend and tried to really pump it up.  Anyway, because of her lovely cough and congestion now we get to give her breathing treatments as well.

Sounds like it will be another fun week at our house for this Momma! :)  Besides the typical spring fever, I really think I'm going a little nutty in our house.  We're stocked up on some fun stuff - water beads, coloring books, cloud dough... any other ideas?

While I know it could be so much worse, it's hard to see your little ones be sick!  Hoping wellness is right around the corner.
