Daddy Daughter Date

Several weeks ago I saw a post advertising a Daddy Daughter Date at Chik-Fil-A on Facebook.  (See?  FB is not a COMPLETE waste of time... :)  I immediately knew it looked like something that Lainey and Jed would love to do.  Admittedly, I think I was the most excited one out of all of us about the event, but only because of my sentimental nature.  I mean, c'mon.  Little girls, their sweet daddies, dressing up... does it get any cuter than that?!?

The afternoon before their big date, we spent some time primping and getting ready.  The little girls were encouraged to dress up as princesses so dress up we did!

We met Jed after work and I dropped Lainey off on her first real date.  Her handsome guy even had a flower for her.  What a gentleman! :)

I so, so, SO badly wanted to watch the whole evening unfold.  It had to be the absolute most precious thing on the face of the planet.  I told Jed about a thousand times to take lots of pictures.  He came home with a few :)

Two of Lainey's sweet friends got to go on dates with their daddies too!
Charlotte, Lainey and Penelope

They even had REAL princesses there.  Lainey didn't know who this one was (Merida from Brave) but maybe we will rent the movie one of these days.  She was still pretty smitten with the real princess!

They are the cutest!

Lainey came home from her date BEAMING from ear to ear with a new crown in hand.  She had so much to say about the night, especially that the Chik-Fil-A chicken princess was kind of scary and she was pretty excited about the ice cream too.

She insisted on wearing her new crown to bed and a glittery princess skirt.  That girl!

Thankful that Lainey has a dad that LOVES her so genuinely and practically.  They had a fabulous time together.  And big props to Chik-Fil-A for supporting families and relationships to put on a free event like this for creating lasting memories.

Stay/cation

Last week we were blessed enough to spend 3 ENTIRE extra days with our favorite guy.  It was such a treat.  Jed had some carry-over PTO from last year that needed to be used by April 1 so we got to enjoy a 5 day weekend as a family.  We kept him super busy doing lots of fun things...

A trip to the Science Center!
[Lainey obviously had the TIME of her LIFE!]

Lainey basically made Jed eat almost every meal with her at her little table.  It was actually really adorable to see a 6'2'' man sitting at a toddler table.

We enjoyed some time in the yard!

Jed and Lainey went on several store trips together and always returned with things that weren't necessarily on the list... :)

Basically, he had a little shadow the entire time he was home.  I never have doubted Lainey's love for her Dad, but I can say that her affections definitely grew this past weekend.  She was never very far from him, helped him make coffee each morning, asked for him every time she woke up and didn't let him out of her sight.
Although I don't have a picture to prove it, I will also say that while Wyatt seems to prefer his Momma most of the time, Jed can make him giggle like crazy making trumpet sounds and singing to him.  So sweet.
Two peas in a pod, these two.

This is what greeted Jed when he came home from work today.
I think we all agree that we wouldn't mind 5 day weekends more often!

Dressing up!

Tis the season... for dressing up!  I am not really the biggest fan of Halloween... I love fall, but not so much Halloween, I just think it's kind of silly.  I do however, have a husband and now a daughter who enjoy dressing up and all of the silly-ness that it involves.  Also, Jed's work has a trick or treating event for the office kids which is a pretty big to-do!

I found this costume at a thrift sale for a QUARTER a long, long time ago.  I actually never looked at it very close and I always thought it was a bunny costume.  Turns out, it's a kitty cat.  Meh, doesn't really matter either way.  Kids are cute in full body costumes no matter what.  Want proof?

Tough to get her to focus ... there was so much going on in the office!  So many kids!  So many costumes!  So much candy!

She's way too fast for the camera!

"Oooooh... what do we have here?"

A comparison to our little leopard last year at Jed's office Halloween and our kitty cat this year!  Kind of ironic that she's been dressed as a feline for 2 years in a row and we are definitely more of a dog family but she's oh so cute no matter what.
