Tis the season...

Loved decorating the tree with my sweet big girl this year.  She was a great "helper" :)  We were rather selective with the ornaments we placed on the bottom half of the tree...  She's grabby and curious, that one.

Wyatt slept in the swing while we worked.  He's been sleeping nearly all day after partying nearly all night last night for the first time.  He surrendered his title of "easiest newborn baby ever" last night.  We'll see if he redeems himself tonight!  I think he will... he loves his Momma and he knows she's on her own again tomorrow after a fabulous week plus some with Grandma and Grandpa.  Wish me luck...

I think a majority of the pictures I take and post online are of my kids in pajamas.  I don't know what it is, but I just love babies in PJs.  Especially fleece footie ones.  MOST especially Christmas fleece footie pajamas.  Seriously adorable.

Sweet Dreams

We've, well mostly, I have been thinking a lot about how to decorate Beanie Baby's bedroom. The key words I've been thinking are adorable and affordable. We are not planning on finding out the sex of the baby (we're totally crazy, I know!) so I've been trying to find some gender-neutral ideas for bedding and decor. For some reason, I think it's a boy. I don't really have any legitimate reason for thinking this but I just do. Obviously, we'd be thrilled either way but in the back of my mind, I just think it's a boy! That said, I've been trying to find nursery ideas that aren't too feminine but would work for a girl just in case. I've ruled out pink and blue and am leaning towards oranges, yellows, greens, etc. I did a little googling and found some sweet images that sparked some inspiration...
I really love the picture frame cluster in this picture and the contrasting curtains and valence!

In this picture, I really like the brown modern pattern bumper!

I like the rug in this picture and the wall hangings. My dear former roommate Haley had some of these hanging in our house and they are super easy and cheap!

This is the favorite bedding I've found so far. I came across it a few weeks ago online and I can't remember where I saw it! I should have bookmarked the link! Sigh. I like the light green and the gray wall is really sweet. We haven't decided if we are going to paint the room yet, but if we did, I'd like a lighter gray maybe...
So many ideas and decisions and thankfully... a lot of time to figure it all out!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

It's Thanksgiving Eve!

Jed and I (mostly me) did some decorating for Christmas last weekend BECAUSE we were SUPPOSED to be in Minnesota right now hanging out with my mom and then leaving for Wisconsin in the morning. Unfortunately, northern Iowa and pretty much all of Minnesota (at least along I-35) got blasted with some ice and snow so we decided to stay in Des Moines. It's our first Thanksgiving as a family and we are excited to spend it together. Jed's parents will be down sometime this weekend so we will get to see them and Jed's sister, brother in law and our niece too. Yes!

Anyway, here are some fun shots of our decorating. I really love Christmas and the holidays and I was so excited to decorate some in our first house. Especially thankful for my fabulous fireplace! :)

Bo and I had a crafting afternoon last Saturday. I turned my fall wreath into a Christmas wreath by adding some green felt and then some red and white berries ghat I got at Hobby Lobby for 50 cents! I love it!
These are hand painted carolers that Jed's great Grandma painted and I think they are SO cute!
Leftover wedding centerpieces + 50 cent Hobby Lobby berries = Mantle decorations!
This is another gem from Jed's Christmas box. This is a super antiquey looking advent calendar that Jed's grandma got somewhere in Europe. It's the sweetest thing with the little pop open windows! I need to find a better spot for it.
The mantle in all it's glory! I love my stockings. My Aunt Barb bought them for me one year on our girl's Chicago trip!
This is a lovely ceramic tree that my Grandma Carey gave me a few years back. It is probably my favorite Christmas piece. It's so fun to take out of the old box and put all of the little lights in it. It's like a light bright! And then you flip it on and it's sooo pretty!
My cheerful helper!

Final product. This picture does not do it justice.

I will be sure to mentally document all of the hilarity that is guaranteed to ensue tomorrow as we make our first Thanksgiving meal together and update the blog again soon!
